Fit & Carrying Comfort
Is the back panel adjustable for different heights?
Yes. The Expedition has an adjustable back panel combined with an internal frame featuring twin aluminum rods. This allows you to customize the torso fit to your specific height for optimal comfort and weight distribution.
How does this pack handle very heavy loads on long multi-day treks?
It is engineered specifically for heavy hauling. The design features a fully-padded back panel, a breathable air-mesh suspension system for ventilation, and a padded waist belt with a 3-point adjustment system that enhances load control and stabilizes balance on uneven terrain.
Capacity & Accessibility
Do I have to unpack the entire bag from the top to reach gear at the bottom?
No. Unlike traditional top-only rucksacks, the Expedition features dual front and top access alongside a twin-compartment design. This allows you to organize your gear efficiently and quickly access items at the bottom or middle of your pack without dumping everything out.
Can the side pockets securely hold long, heavy gear like tent poles or snow wands?
Yes. The side pockets are purpose-built deep and durable enough to secure long alpine essentials like pickets, wands, and trekking or tent poles. They work in tandem with the built-in side compression straps to lock external gear tightly against the frame.
Gear Attachments & Hydration
Does this pack include a hydration bladder, or do I need to use water bottles?
The pack comes equipped with a dedicated internal hydration sleeve and routing port for a reservoir system. While the bladder itself is sold separately, the deep side pockets can also easily hold large backup water bottles for your journey.
What options are available for strapping extra gear to the outside of the pack?
The pack offers extensive external rigging options. It features dual ice axe/hammer loops, dedicated trekking pole attachment loops, a meshed front pocket with multiple lashing points, and additional attachment points on both the shoulder straps and the lid.
Sizing & Weather Protection
Is this pack waterproof, or do I need to purchase a separate rain cover?
The pack is constructed from water-resistant fabric to handle light moisture, but it also includes an integrated rain cover stowed away in a dedicated bottom pocket. You can quickly deploy it for complete protection when a heavy downpour hits.
Can I use this 80L backpack as a carry-on for flights?
No. At 32 inches tall, the Expedition is a high-capacity, heavy-haul pack that exceeds standard airline carry-on size limitations. You will need to check this backpack when traveling by air to your trekking destination.
